Our handspan paddle is a hardwood paddle which has an impact area roughly 10″ long and about as wide as a closed hand, hence the name. The tool continues with an 8″ handle ending with a leather loop for hanging the tool after use.

The length and width of the paddle allows a variety of impacts including single cheek strokes and a stroke that covers the entire bottom in one go. The weight of the paddle means the toy can impart significant force and can be used lightly or heavily.

The edges are beveled and all surfaces are sanded and stained to ensure even hard impacts don’t break the skin.
